Meet Amy Raines: Durham Farms’ Community Manager
October 25th, 2021
Give a big Durham Farms welcome to our new community manager, Amy Raines! First and foremost, our front porch living community is all about people — the ones who live here as well as the team members working here. Let’s learn all about Amy and why she is excited about her new role!
With a dream to help others, Amy began her career in social work after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her people skills, tenacity, and inspiring nature were definitely noticed at the non-profit she was working for, and she was promoted to regional manager. It was then Amy realized what a passion she has for mentoring. She’s originally from Phoenix, AZ and has two kids Ben and Morgan, and two rascally rescue dogs Frankie and Murphy from local animal shelters. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, restoring furniture, spending time with her kids, and going to concerts with her friends. She’s also the current Board Chair for the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce.
Durham Farms caught her attention because of its great reputation within Hendersonville and surrounding areas. “I love the concept of front porch living. It’s nice to be a part of something as dynamic and yet cozy as Durham Farms.” Her role as community manager is important to her. “As the Community Manager, I know I set the tone for the community. Yes, I must do my job (i.e. monitor HOA compliance, ensure the property is maintained well, etc.). However, I see my role as helping to bring the residents together, provide a reliable touch point to address concerns, and do my part to help homeowners maintain top value for their homes. Management (especially property management) never fails to feed my need to be challenged.”
There are so many things she loves about Durham Farms. “Durham Farms has thoughtfully addressed an emerging deficit in our society (the disconnection between neighbors and community). I can remember watching old TV shows as a kid, and it seemed like neighborhoods were more connected then. Now, people are so busy, and it is so easy to log on to social media and check out of the world that is actually around you. Durham Farms serves to pull residents together so you don’t just live beside someone that you may or may not know. Durham Farms is literally constructed to bring people together. Homes have welcoming porches to host a neighbor, and streets are lined with picket fences. There is a fun dog park, social activities, tons of amenities, and clubs. Everything is here at your fingertips. So, when it’s time to relax for the day, residents can easily connect with others.”
Her favorite things about Durham Farms include the pool, the gym, and the dog park. She wants everyone to live here. “Hendersonville is a progressive town that still holds small town values and traditions. I have lived all over the US, and I can honestly say Sumner County is the best place to raise a family (or retire). Durham Farms is the crowning jewel in this area. Come by for a visit, and you will experience how special it really is.”
