Meet Kathy Creger, Durham Farms’ Community Manager

July 26th, 2023

Durham Farms is special, and that’s why we’ve got only the best people on our team to make your experience living here even more rewarding. Meet Kathy, our hardworking Durham Farms Community Manager. We think you will like her just as much as we do. Kathy grew up in Pascagoula, Mississippi, spent many years in Fort Myers/Cape Coral, Florida, and moved to Hendersonville in March 2023. She has five children, three grandchildren and a very diva cat named Lyric. She loves traveling, trying new restaurants, reading, baking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Her goal was to be a music teacher at the elementary school level. She received a full voice and piano scholarship and grants from William Carey College of Music. ”Although life pulled me from following that dream, I still enjoyed my love of music and teaching by being active in my church music ministry as a soloist, occasional worship team member, and leading a youth choir at my church.

Kathy is experienced in making people and communities feel they are cared for. She started out in HOA as a secretary and fell in love with the field. She also worked for a very large defense law firm in Fort Myers for 10 years, in addition to country club work. “I worked as an admin, followed by promotions to Executive Administrative Assistant, obtained my License as a Community Association Manager in the state of Florida, and was then promoted to HOA Manager, followed by Director of Administrative Services. After 14 years with Troon and Colonial Country Club, I was offered a General Manager position outside of that company and have continued in the field since.”

Durham Farms was a natural fit for her for many reasons. “I wanted to relocate to this area after my kids grew up and moved out on their own. I loved the hometown feel of Durham Farms, Freehold, and CCMC from the minute I read about the position and saw the website. I have fallen in love with the Hendersonville area and hope to be at Durham Farms for many years to come.” Kathy’s approach is to tackle the role with a comprehensive mindset. “The Community Manager role is a combination of compliance, structure, hospitality, and customer service all rolled into one. It involves managing the community assets, vendors, contracts, and association needs while providing service and oversite of the staff as we serve the residents and the Board. My goals include increasing resident satisfaction, getting the Farmhouse up and running again, and earning the trust of the residents and Board.”

As for the day-to-day, Kathy loves the variety. “No two days are ever the same. Every day is filled with answering emails, serving residents at the café, checking in new residents, interacting, and assisting my team, answering questions from the residents via email or in person, and being able to switch gears instantly as each day is navigated.” Her favorite thing about the community is the lifestyle events. She added, “Durham Farms is a beautiful place to work, live, and play. New residents will find they have warm and friendly neighbors and a management team who truly cares about making Durham Farms a premier property, providing enjoyment for the residents, and taking care of their investment.”
