You may need flexible space for a home office or even two, or quiet spaces for the kids to have online classes. Perhaps you have a large family, or expect a graduating college student to return to the nest temporarily or an aging parent to come to stay.

The way families live in their homes is changing, and homebuilders like Grandview Custom Homes are offering new floor plans to meet their needs. The company recently began offering designs in Hendersonville’s Durham Farms community with 3,300 to 4,000 square feet of living space, four or five bedrooms and three and a half or four baths.

The homes will have larger-than-usual 70-foot-wide yards. Prices will start in the high $500,000s.

“These new homes at Durham Farms are stunning and spacious, ideal for growing families looking to be a part of a truly special community,” said Steve Bone, president of Grandview Custom Homes.

The company also offers homes on 60-foot-wide lots in Durham Farms. They have four bedrooms and up to three and a half baths. Prices start in the mid-$500,000s.

Homes with lots of bedrooms are a popular choice in the community. When Ryan Homes offered designs with up to six bedrooms, buyers snapped them up. That floor plan is now sold out. So is Ryan’s floor plan with up to four bedrooms.

Lennar Homes currently offers a design with up to five bedrooms and up to four and a half baths. The houses have 2,308 to 3,081 square feet of living space. Prices start in the low $400,000s.

Grandview’s new homes will be located near the Farmhouse, the community clubhouse at the center of life in Durham Farms. It offers a well-equipped fitness facility with personal training and group classes, a resort-style swimming pool with a splash pad for the kids, a deck and lounge area and a rocking-chair front porch. It also features a Wi-Fi café, community conference room and a game and activities area. The Farmhouse is the base of operations for the community’s full-time lifestyle director.

Other community amenities include a playground, nearly three miles of paved trails, large open spaces, pocket parks and Veterans Walk, a park that honors men and women who served in the armed forces. Durham Farms’ dog park will open this spring.

Durham Farms will have more than 1,000 homes on 472 acres when home building is complete.
